Viral Marketing

I decided to research into viral marketing in order to influence me into creating my own viral marketing idea to promote our short film. Viral marketing is marketing techniques that use pre-existing that use social networking services and other technologies to try to produce an increase in brand awareness. As viral marketing is often free, it allows independent companies to successfully  market their ideas, as it's a cheaper alternative compared to the traditional marketing efforts such as trailers, posters etc.

'You have to admire the virus. It has a way of living in secrecy until it is so numerous that it wins by sheer weight of numbers. It piggybacks on other hosts and uses their resources to increase its tribe. And in the right environment, it grows exponentially. A virus doesn’t even have to mate. Examples of viral marketing:
The viral ad for Old Spice currently has 53.7 million views on YouTube alone. The witty advert will have been shared over and over via social media such as Facebook and Twitter, causing it's huge popularity and outspread.
